Our goal was to have the house function for the contemporary lifestyle of empty nesters while respecting the character of the house within the context of its historic neighborhood. Prior to construction, much time was spent in the planning phase to ensure good flow based on the clients' needs. We presented them with several options with an emphasis on tasteful kitchen and bath designs. The clients also wanted a sunny family space which required building an addition. To make that connection seamless, we studied the details of the original house and referenced those in the new space. The design incorporated the clients' extensive art and antiques collection as well.
This home earned us an award for “Outstanding Efforts Toward the Preservation of Davidson County’s Architectural Heritage” from the Historical Commission of Metropolitan Nashville in 2018.
